How to cancel
ChatGPT.
Cancel personal ChatGPT plans through the channel that bills you. Business workspaces have separate billing controls.
Cancel a direct website purchase
- Sign in to the ChatGPT account used for the purchase.
- Open your account menu, then Settings → Billing.
- Find Cancel plan, choose Cancel, and complete confirmation.
Opens the official provider. Sign in there, never on Subscription Checkup.
Enterprise and Edu are outside this personal-plan guide. If web billing controls are missing, try the same account in another browser or contact OpenAI support.
Paid through an app store?
Apple App Store purchase
Use the Apple Account on the receipt. Open device Settings → your name → Subscriptions, select the relevant subscription, and finish cancellation.
Open Apple account ↗Google Play purchase
Open Google Play subscriptions in the purchasing Google account, choose the relevant subscription, and follow Cancel subscription through confirmation.
Open Play subscriptions ↗Using Apple Pay or Google Pay on a website does not necessarily create an App Store or Play subscription.
After you cancel
Cancellation stops future renewals; it does not automatically refund earlier payments.
Reopen your subscription settings and save the final renewal state or cancellation confirmation. Record any end date shown. If the screen only offers a discount or pause, continue until you have an explicit cancellation outcome.
Refunds and credits
Use OpenAI’s official support for web billing questions. App-store purchases must be managed through their purchase platform.
For current eligibility, use the official source below and the receipt’s purchase platform. Do not treat this checklist as a promise of reimbursement.
If something doesn’t look right
I can’t find the subscription.
Compare the signed-in account with your receipt. Check other accounts you use and the purchase platform before starting a new subscription. For a shared workspace, ask the owner or administrator.
I can’t sign in.
Use the provider’s official recovery or support flow. If the store handled the purchase, recover that store account. Do not share credentials or full payment details with this website.
I was charged after canceling.
Compare the charge date, account, and plan with your confirmation. Check for a second account or separate purchase and contact the billing provider through official support.
